Using your Noodle

Today we worked with Math buddies. We measured one piece of spaghetti and then tried to estimate how long a bag of spaghetti would be. Ours was 212 feet. We had to line them up all over the blacktop or multiply them.

We have been spending lots of time in rehearsal. We are also doing research. We are taking notes about our inventors during classtime and in computers. Some people started writing their report. Please come to the Inventors' Museum on Thursday, June 2nd.

Please remember to sign up for Strawberry Festival Volunteering. The Festival is this Friday and Saturday.

Math by Deven and Noah

1. In math we got our own packets of 100 dollar bills that we could decorate with our own famous people, serial number, place, and different ways to make 100.
2. We have been watching and singing along with “Schoolhouse Rock Multiplication Rock.”

Field Trip Tomorrow

Tomorrow we are going to the Sounds of the Mountains Festival at Camp Bethel. Your child will need fruit break, lunch, and a drink, preferably in a disposable bag. We will return to school before 3:00. Please make sure your child is on time.

During classtime, students are researching and taking notes on their inventors. They are working very hard. When students are not working on their inventor reports, they are working on a number of activities, including free choice writing activities, a solitaire Scrabble card game, Bananagrams, solving secret codes, Greek and Roman mythology booklets, and various other literacy games.

Students also are very busy working on "Jungle Book." Students have rehearsals for their Arts Festival play on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

On Friday, April 22, we have no school.

Review Games by Everett & Noah

We did two different games. The first one was called 'Who Has'. We got one card each, all with a country and a question on them. We had to line up with our cards matching each question with a country. The second game was a board game. We each got a bananagram tile, and you play it by youngest to oldest. We had to move through all the countries we studied saying facts about each plane.

The Elementary Tea went very well. Thank you to all the parents who came and all the people who helped. The students did a wonderful job and to thank them for their participation and for sharing their joy in our level. We cleaned up and played games in math. We used shaving cream to make our nine multiplication facts on the table. We played math games like "Number Ninja," "Cirkis," "Multiplication Fish," "Blokus," and "Square Up!" It was a lot of fun.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:

On Wednesday we will be leaving at 9:45 to visit the Virginia Safari Park. We will return around 2:45 pm.

A seminar student, is collecting new or gently used books and school supplies. She is planning on having a sale of these items on campus to raise money for the Refugee Center. Each classroom has a box to collect supplies.

Conferences are Thursday, April 7th.

Next week is spring break. We hope everyone has a wonderful week off!
