In math, we have been working on model drawing. This is also called Singapore Math. (Kim went to a conference on Singapore Math in early November. Singapore consistently does very well in the international math assessments. This conference tried to highlight what was best about their math instruction.)
We look at plus and minus word problems and use a bar to help figure out the answer. It helps because you can see the numbers by drawing them. It will help us do times, division, and percentage, too. Times and division are hard because it can be confusing to people who don't work on them. Multiplication is kind of harder. This helps us actually see in pictures what we are doing.
