Thank you for all the goodies!

In Betsy's math we are measuring, finding perimeter, and looking at kinds of angles. In Kim's math we are measuring and finding perimeter. We continue to begin each class with thinking skills. Betsy's math class has learned some fun games including Snake, Pig, and Around the World.

We are working on observation skills including what is the quickest way to get messages across -- words, facial expression, or gestures. Facial expressions proved to be the quickest. We talked about primates and how they communicate. We looked at Koko, a gorilla, and Dr. Zuberbuhler's work with monkeys.

We have chosen "just right" books using the five finger rule. Everyone has enjoyed having a book to read. Students wrote letters to soldiers. We looked at nouns, verbs, and adjectives and wrote brief descriptions of ourselves. We will try to match the sentences with student pictures.

A Brief Look Ahead: On November 1st we are going to hear the Roanoke Symphony. On December 7 we are going to see "Narnia" at Roanoke Children's Theater. On February 25th we will see "Suessical."
