We continued learning about Afghanistan and writing our mysteries. Some of the things we learned about Afghanistan are:

  • Many people in the country are very poor.
  • The average life span for women is 45 years.
  • The average life span for men is 46 years.
  • Flying kites is a sport.
  • They eat naan.
  • Some desserts are rice pudding and baklava.
  • There are soldiers there.
  • Alexander the Great tried to conquer them.
  • Genghis Khan also invaded.
  • It was part of the Mughal empire (like a lot of India).
  • Sometimes they have earthquakes and flooding.
  • They had treasures stolen.
  • They were attacked by the Soviets and the British.
  • They were able to get the Soviets out.
  • There are some very poor people that are having a very tough time.
  • There is a sport where they try to catch a goat on horses.
  • They celebrate Independence Day on August 19th.

Some of our mysteries include:

  • What happened to all the food in the fridge?
  • Who attacked Sushi Island?
  • Why do I play so many video games?
  • Was the house really haunted and how do I get out?
  • Who ate the pig?
  • What is behind the fence?
  • Who stole the pencils?
