The mystery we must solve in Peru is... Why did the Incas build Machu Picchu 70 miles from their capital, Cuzco, over very mountainous terrain?

One of the first eight lords of the Incas was extremely ugly and one was really mean and bullied people. They were trying to get more land. When the emperors were buried they were mummified and the mummies were kept around and fanned by women. Some women spoke for the dead emperors. The Spanish conquered the Incas in 1533.

Peru has Nazca lines that are shaped like animals and insects. Lima is the capital city. Their economy is based on gold, copper, zinc, and tourism.
