Kim's Math and Drama Days

We began our unit on multiplication. A letter was sent home with the math homework yesterday. Many of your children already know the basic multiplication facts. For that reason, we will be focusing on word problems. Which operation students should use to solve a problem will often be more important than solving the problem. Students will be asked to use many different strategies to solve each problem, including arrays, rate diagrams, counters, pictures, and Singapore math. Students will also write their own math stories and help me create the class supply list within a budget for next year.

Vocabulary for this unit includes: multiples, Commutative Property, Additive Identity Property, Multiplicative Identity Property, product, and factors.

DRAMA DAYS: Betsy's class will be performing on Monday, March 7th from 2:15-3:00. Kim's class will be performing on Tuesday, March 8th from 1:30-2:15. Betsy's class will perform a play from Africa and Kim's will be from Japan. Drama is weaving a dramatic web of stories from around the world. All classes will be performing during this week so please check with your classroom teacher for each class time.

(Because we mixed up our classes, you will need to know the list.)
